BEST QUESTIONS

NAMES ALREADY REGISTERED

Best Protection subscription does not block a domain or a username that was registered prior to the Best Protection subscription.

5L+ VALID TRADEMARKS ONLY

1-character, 2-character ,3-character and 4-character trademarks are not permitted on blocking. They have to register individually their domains and usernames to protect their trademark.

PREMIUM DOMAINS

A limited number of higher priced domain names called premium names are ineligible for Best Protection. Premium names are usually generic terms.

RESERVED DOMAINS & USERNAMES

A limited number of domain names attached to the .Best Registry called Reserved Domains and Usernames are ineligible for Best Protection. Reserved Domains and Usernames are usually generic terms also.

OTHER SUNRISE RIGHTS

Another trademark holder with a similar validated trademark for the exact matching term may register, by exception, that term as a domain name even when a Best Protection subscription exists for it.

Domain names that are reserved by .Best are not affected by Best Protection.

.Best may reserve domain names, including those subject to the Best Protection, including, without limitation, domain names that are:

  • Reserved for operations and other purposes, including without limitation certain premium names, which .Best may change from time to time;
  • Reserved or restricted to comply with applicable ICANN requirements or .Best policies, including those reserved for certain third parties;
  • Still pending, in process, or otherwise not available, such as domain names that are still pending processing of Sunrise registration;
  • Already under registration or subject to an active Best Protection subscription, unless an exception applies.

What TradeMarks are eligible for the Best Protection ?

ALL 5L+ (>= 5 Letters) valid Trademarks are eligible !
A Trademark doesn't have to be validated within the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) to be valid for the Best Protection.
The TMCH is the ICANN centralized trademark database.

How can I protect my Trademark with the Best Protection ?

Contact us by email, or directly your .Best accredited registrar or Best Protection partner to learn more about how to subscribe.

What are the Best Protection Requirements ?

The Best will not accept a Best Protection application unless the registrant meets applicable requirements including the following technical and syntax requirements :

  • The Trademark name must consist exclusively of the letters A-Z (case insensitive), the numbers 0-9, and hyphens;
  • The Trademark may not begin or end with a hyphen;
  • The Trademark must be in character scripts (languages);
  • The Trademark may only have two consecutive hyphens (-) in the third and fourth positions, if any, when preceded by "xn" and followed by a label that corresponds with an IDN containing characters referred to in (c) above;
  • The Trademark should not exceed 63 characters.

How do I Pay for the Best Protection ?

Payment can be made directly through your .Best accredited registrar or your Best Protection IP partner.

.Best will be not responsible for any failure on the part of his .Best accredited registrar and/or his Best Protection partners, including where such failure results in the failure to block, non-renewal or termination of the applicable Trademark concerned.
